GLSDC Members in The ABA Hall of Fame
The GLSDC is fortunate to have two club members in the ABA Hall of Fame; the late Larry Fournier, and Stuart Rogers.
The American Bop Association (ABA) is a non-profit corporation of member clubs who are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the broad range of dance and music styles more commonly known as bop, all forms of swing, jitterbug, and shag. The association strives to enhance inter-club communication and promotional coordination of activities throughout our membership community.

The ABA Hall of Fame members are a group of people who have made exception contributions to their clubs, the ABA and the dance community. Potential members are nominated by their ABA member club. Current members of the Hall of Fame review nomination petitions and vote on admission.. Typically, it takes several nominations over several years before a nominee is admitted to the Hall of Fame.

Larry Fournier - Inducted September 1, 2006
Larry helped the Great Lakes Swing Dance Club begin in 1991 and has been a member ever since. He has served as President, Vice-President, Chairman and Newsletter editor over the years. He spent five years as the editor of the American Bop Association’s Newsletter. Over the years, as Larry’s dance skills increased, Larry passed these skills along by teaching dance classes for his club. Larry’s encouragement on the dance floor was challenging, fun and always appreciated. He helped make dancers shine on the dance floor and his clubs members have great respect for his efforts over the years.

Stuart Rogers - Inducted November 15, 2014
Stuart was one of the founding members of the Great Lakes Swing Dance Club. Even before that, he was involved in dancing and organizing dances in the local area for years.
Stuart has continuously worked at growing and mentoring the Club, Dance Instructors, and club DJs. He has promoted the Club within the community, with our dancers performing at Assisted Living and Nursing Homes, local community and Club sponsored events.
He is one of the club dance instructors, teaching the weekly Club lessons on a rotating basis, and is one of the Club DJs. Stuart has worn many hats for the Club – instructor, team leader, driver, hauler, setup and teardown, decorator, writer, negotiator, banker and more. He has held every Board position – Chairman, President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Sergeant-at-Arms. Stuart has an exceptional love and commitment to dancing, and his nurturing and steadfast service has help establish the Great Lakes Swing Dance club as the largest Dance Club in Michigan.
